One Last Thing...
As a graduate of the Healthcare Management and Administration Program, what would you tell an incoming freshman about the program, professors, and advisors and what would you tell a junior seeking and preparing for their internship experience?
"To an incoming freshman, I would tell them that the program is set up in a way that is going to put them in a position of academic success. Many of the classes' content intertwines with one another and you begin to see all the dots connecting, which is really cool. All the professors are extremely understanding and many of them work in the field themselves so use their knowledge and connections to your advantage.
To juniors in this program, be very open minded about your internship opportunities. It is okay to be pushed out of your comfort zones and the companies you work with know you are an intern, so do not be scared to ask for extra help or ask questions in general." -Gianna Desilva

"If an incoming freshman was interested in this program, I would tell them about all of the great opportunities it can offer you. I would also tell them all of the professor and advisors are great and very supportive. And if a junior who is about to go into their internship I would just tell them to do lots research about the organization before hand." -Isabella Wood

"For incoming freshmen, the Healthcare Management program at Rowan has allowed me to grow in many different areas of my life and personal career. It has allowed me to see the kind of leader that I want to be within an organization. With the help of your professor and advisor, you will gain knowledge that will help you along your journey within this program.
I would encourage incoming freshmen, even though you are in make sure that you are around supportive people who want to see you succeed. Another piece of advice is to think about the type of leader they want to be and how they will use the skills and experiences that they learned to make a difference within the organization to be an effective leader. Never give up, and never be afraid to ask for help from the professors and advisor!" -Briana Hazzard

"I would tell, incoming freshmen that this program is very useful and valuable to careers in the future, and that there are an abundance of possibilities of what you can use it on in the future. You will have excellent on the job professors to help and answer any questions. You’ll have advisors who will guide you and assist you in the direction you need to be going in even though you may not see it now or know it.
I would tell juniors to start looking early for internship experiences, in the sense to start applying well before senior year. Make sure to get it done and out-of-the-way because it can be harder than it seems with so many other students applying to the same internship that you’re saying. Build up different on campus experiences whether it’s joining different honor societies or clubs. These jobs like to see those different things." -Nathan Beam

"The Healthcare Management & Administration program is awesome if you’re into both healthcare and business. The professors are super knowledgeable and really care and make the program fun. Don’t be shy, ask questions and go to office hours. The advisors are also super helpful for class planning and career stuff.
Get involved early and start building your network. Start looking for your internships early like I did and use your advisors and professors, they have great connections. Make sure your resume is solid and be open to different types of internships, literally look everywhere! Even if it’s not your dream job, you’ll learn a lot. Show up, be professional, and treat it like a real job, it could turn into one." -Dakota McCallion

"As a graduate of the Healthcare Management and Administration Program, what would you tell an incoming freshman about the program, professors, and advisors, and what would you tell a junior seeking and preparing for their internship experience?
As a graduate of the Healthcare Management and Administration Program, I would like to inform incoming freshmen, professors, and advisors of the opportunities the program has to offer! If you are an incoming freshman who may enjoy healthcare, have a passion for understanding and supporting people, but not necessarily hands-on, this may be just for you! These classes will sculpt your future education and career in the best way possible.
From my personal experience, it was challenging to find the right internship and receive responses from those sites. The persistence to find something that captivates your interest, but also enjoy, learn, and grow from. It was a bit rocky and stressful in the beginning, yet you will find the right internship for you. During my internship experience, I have learned a new set of skills. I have learned more about myself, my values, and my goals. Keep searching, continue reaching out to companies, and strive for success. If you stay committed and try your hardest, it will all work out in the end. We are the backbone of healthcare; it's time we own it!" -Maricela Morfin

"I would tell the upcoming freshman to really use their resources. When it comes to advising and professors, they are there to help you succeed. For the juniors I would say the same thing as far as taking full advantage of their resources. As far as the internship course, the junior class should go to all of the health career fairs to network with companies and get as much information about what they are offering. Good luck in the upcoming semester!" -Tangier Waltower
